I'll repeat: There will not be a repeat for Celtics

By Chad Garner
Fan Fanatic Sports Staff
It sure is a sad day to be a Boston Celtics fan. When I saw the ticker on ESPN saying that coach Doc Rivers isn't expecting star Kevin Garnett back for Game 1 of the NBA playoffs against the Chicago Bulls -- maybe the entire postseason --my first reaction was #@&!.
I'm all about team and don't think one player is above the team, well, maybe Kobe or Lebron or Bird -- but there is no way that the C's can make another run through the playoffs without Garnett. No way, no how. Yes, you can stick a fork in the Boston Celtics.
THERE WILL BE NO REPEAT!!!
The Celtics do still have Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, but the low post is where teams are going to absolutely hammer the C's. Perkins, Davis and Powe are solid at what they do, but they can't replace any part of KG's game. Garnett is a force on the boards, both offensively and defensively, and can score in a variety of ways. Not to mention, KG's desire to win and elevate his teammates' game is probably his best characteristic. He's an inspirational leader -- leader being the key word.
You know what, even with a semi-healthy Garnett, the C's wouldn't beat Cleveland, not this year, anyway.
Please, please, please tell my how the Celtics will repeat as NBA champions? Someone get me off the edge of my roof. I want to hear from you, the reader, how the C's can repeat or if you agree with me that there's no way they'll repeat.

John Madden retires! Yes, I am sad

By Jim Ingram

To be perfectly honest, if this happened three years ago I'd be ripping John Madden for allowing himself to finish his career as a bumbling, senile old man. I am sure Chad is already getting ready to blast me, but hold on. A few years ago John Madden had lost his fastball and stature as the preeminent football analyst in the country.  It seemed like he was just showing up cold and going on air, but he's done more than just redeem himself over the past two seasons.  Somehow he woke up and starting enjoying himself in the booth again.  He returned to his old self and was doing a fantastic job analyzing the game.  It was a great comeback in my mind, and made me enjoy listening to him in the booth.  I no longer thought of him as the Joe Morgan (don't get me started on him) of football.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but the younger generation only see him as the video game mogul. Being in my early thirties, I've grown up playing Madden games and have owned every single season since the franchise started. What you should remember John Madden for was not just his video games, and his time in the booth, but also his hall of fame coaching career with the Oakland Raiders.
He's really done it all in the game of Football from playing, coaching and analyzing.  His smile, laugh and boom's will be sorely missed in the pantheon of sports.  A literal giant of the game has ended his long and successful career and leaves huge shoes to fill.  Thank you John Madden for a great career.

We need the help of our fans.  In my opinion, there's no easier way to get sports fan motivated than offering free tickets, so that's what FFS is going to do.  This is the first of many contests and unique prizes to come.  I have created a Fan Fanatic Sports group on Facebook. You can click on the link above to take you directly there.
Here's what to do:
1. Sign up as a fan yourself on the page
2. Sign as many friends up as possible and make sure they recognize you as the person who signed them up.
3. The contest began on April 13th and runs until Friday, May 1st.  The person who adds the most members to our group will win Two (2) FREE tickets to an upcoming Boston Red Sox game.
It's as simple as that.  Good luck and thank you for the effort

Bruins vs. Canadians
The Gloves Come Off Tonight!

By Matt Ingram

With five games to go in the season, I took one look at the standings and saw the Canadians floating around the 7th or 8th seed for the playoffs. At that point, I had a feeling the Bruins would be facing Montreal to get redemption for last year's game 7 debacle, it was inevitable.

Starting from the off-season you could tell the 2 teams were moving in different directions. The Habs didn't make an impactful move at all, as where the B's made a couple upgrades. Forwards, Blake Wheeler and former Canadian veteran Michael Ryder provided need depth and scoring ability.

The Bruins dominated the six regular season match ups going 5-0-1. Recently, Montreal backed their way into the playoffs going 2-3-1 in April. But, this is the playoffs and the most hated rivalry in hockey so anything can happen. Look for a Bruins blowout in game 1 followed by 4 or possibly 5 closer games with the B's advancing to the next round. The 7:00pm puck drop can't come soon enough.
