I forgot to mention this in my previous entry this morning. Red Sox fans should NOT ramble on about his fist pumps and excitement after making a big strikeout. In case you haven't noticed, Jonathon Papelbon does the exact same thing!
Yeah but fortunately Cinco Ocho's fist pumps come at the end of the game a majority of the time. Not in the 5th inning when you're down 4-1, or whatever it was.
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with wearing you emotions on your sleeve? Big deal, Pap, does it, Beckett swears at people during games, Joba gets jacked up ... just another thing to complain about. Is it not PC to pump your fists and get emotional, without showing up others? If you can't handle it, try checkers (oh, ya, even then people get excited. Sorry, I enjoy guys that get real fired up, those are real competitors in my book!
ReplyDeleteI don't like Joba, but need to agree with Chad. I'd much rather have someone like him, or Paps, then someone like JD Drew who doesn't look interested at all. That was one of the reason why I liked Paul O'Neil (as a player only. he was a jerk off the field). This all goes back to the fact that both Yankees and Red Sox fans will disagree just for the fact they don't like each other.
ReplyDeleteUhm, Yankee's suck!
ReplyDeleteEvery player has a different personality. Some guys can hide their emotions, some can't. Both bring different things to a team.
ReplyDeleteA guy like Chamberlain, Youk, or Beckett can fire up their team. Guys like Jason Bay or Mike Lowell, more reserved personalities, are also valuable. They can help keep a team calm and focused.
As for Drew. Take a look a Ellsbury steal of home again. Drew didn't even flinch. Nothing. No emotion at all. You would think even the most reserved guy would have at least pumped his fist a little.
I have no problem with guys being who they are. I cannot say anything. I have done some pretty stupid things after losing in fantasy football.
